Youth Voice Collection
The Youth Voice Collection for George Town is an annual project that endeavours to capture the concerns, ideas and hopes of local youth. Collecting the voices of George Town youth helps inform future thinking, actions and strategies developed by George Town Council, Future Impact Group and the wider community. The aim is to collect at least 250 online surveys each year, along with creative methods of consultation and discussion.
Online Youth Survey
273 people submitted an online survey with the majority participating in school consultation sessions. Questions were designed by youth along with project evaluators, Jeder Institute to be a mix of qualitative and quantitative measures. The survey results have had further collation with the George Town Youth Impact Council members and will contribute significantly to Council’s Community strategy.
“Would You Rather?” Boards
Participants from the Seagulls to Chips program were acquired to deliver aspects of the Youth Voice Collection. The youth would engage the community with “Would You Rather?” boards asking various questions about preferences for the community. They even had a prize wheel for participation!
The team showcased their findings along with an annual report, and further opportunity for the community to contribute towards a better future. On Wednesday 6th December, the Youth Voice Collection Showcase was held at the George Town Library from 11.00am-12.00pm.
